CodeBreaker.

What skills have you developed through this brief and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

I have learnt the skill of collaborating with Eddie. Can be frustrating as we are both very laid back people but this meant when it came down to crunch time we had to smash it and I think we surprised even ourselves.
I think I developed conceptual design as we spent ages trying to think of a design, which had a meaning and purpose towards the exhibition.

What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

Like I said we did our reading about the exhibition to inform ourselves about Alan Turing’s work. This helps to inform our design and create a professional identity and collateral of this event.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

My strengths within the brief were design and also communication with my collab partner Eddie. We help plenty of meetings and discussed where we were up to and what needs to be done. I felt like the products I designed were visually attractive and to the standard that is needed for a real event.

What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

Time management. We started this brief early but hit a bit of a wall with the concept which made us take a break from the brief. This was not very professional of us, although I think it did help with the overall design of the brief.

What skills have you developed through this brief and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

I have learnt the skill of working very closely with a client. The constant decision changes and little tweaks at points had me going crazy. But to be honest I did enjoy this brief. Steph is a very hard working individual and I was happy to help with other little project she wanted to make herself for the end of year show. I helped with teaching her InDesign and showing her to bind books. I could of just done it for her but she loved learning these skills and I found it refreshing that she was so passionate about her work and didn’t just take me for advantage and just get me to make everything.

What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

My approach for design was more of that of a teacher. I ended up showing Steph a range of new skills and software knowledge. Also been able to properly teach some and solve there problems and which them take note to your instructions was rewarding. She was a good person to work with and also knew a lot about design and how things should look so my designs had to look very professional, as she is someone who knows what they are talking about.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

My strengths in this brief was persistence. I designed about 100 rose symbols trying to find the right one. I am not a fan of making pretty flowers but I did it and despite not using them I’m glad I showed myself I could do it.

What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

Weaknesses was getting stuff printed. I should really of done more test prints and got this brief done a bit earlier.

1. What skills have you developed through this brief and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

I have developed my screen-printing skills. I don’t think I messed up a single print. I was efficient and even had help Eddie print his briefs while I was waiting for my screens to dry. Didn’t mind doing this I mean I would rather help Eddie get some good prints rather than just watch him struggle.
Skills in stock choices also developed. I loved working with the gold stock it makes anything you do look sick. I will remember this cheat for the future.

2.What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

Wanting to use the gold stock meant I had to take the long approach in printing and it meant waiting around a lot. So I had to make the most of my time waiting around. So between screens I would do some embossing, go help Steph with bookbinding for our project and help eddie print.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

This was  a really quick turn around brief so I would say my time management was on form for this brief and I also was on the blogging. I think this is because I really enjoyed this brief so motivation to work on it was high.

What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

Could of started this brief earlier and god more products created for it.

Augmented Reality UK Greetings.

1.What skills have you developed through this brief and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

The skills I have developed from this brief is the knowledge of screen based design and augmented reality. I have learnt the basic software but I barely can scrape the surface of what is possible with augmented design. It has also allowed me to collaborated with different courses that was a good experience I find the work that Dan does very impressive and fresh.

2.What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

My approaches to design were very concept this project was less about the design but what were all the different ways we could come up with very different cards and how we could push the augmented side to the brief.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

My strengths within the brief was on the concept side. Applying augmented reality to a card that is a timeless tradition. I came up with some nice ideas for the augmented side.

4.What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

My design really wasn’t good at all. Motivation for this brief was not high I loved the augmented side of the brief but I just hated making cards so I became very sarcastic with me design and was glad when it finished.
We could of pushed this brief further but I think it ended as soon as we submitted for YCN. None of us wanted to carry it on at all.
